What to expect
You against the computer
You and the computer trade the ball for four short quarters. The one with more points wins. You can lose, and you can always play again.
Offense and defense
You run and throw when you have the ball, and you pick the defense and steer a defender when the computer has it. Players and the ball are drawn big so they are easy to follow.
Seven on seven
Seven players on each side keeps the field easy to read. You choose the play, and you steer the runner or pick the receiver.
Pause anytime
There is a Pause button, and the game pauses by itself if you switch away.
About this game
Football Lite is a simple, old school football game, drawn from above like the handheld games of long ago. You and the computer take turns with the ball, seven players on each side. Gain ten yards in four downs to keep going. A touchdown is worth 7 points with the extra point, and a field goal is worth 3. On fourth down you can punt or try a field goal. When the quarters run out, the team with more points wins. You choose how well the computer plays: Gently, Fairly or Well, and how long each quarter is.
How to play
Pick a play.
When you have the ball, choose run left, run right, a short pass or a long pass. On fourth down you can also punt, or kick a field goal when you are close enough.
Run and throw.
On a run, or after a catch, tap the field where you want the runner to go, and tap again to change direction. On a pass, a dashed orange ring shows an open receiver. Tap one to throw. Do not wait too long, or the quarterback is sacked.
Pick a defense.
When the computer has the ball, choose guard the run, guard the pass, blitz or deep cover before each play. The computer picks its play, so you are guessing what it will do.
Steer a defender.
One of your defenders has a heavy orange ring, and you steer him. Tap another defender to pick him, and tap the field to send the picked defender there. On a pass, a dashed mark shows where the ball is going, so move a defender to it to break it up.
Hints and saving
Hints: There are no hints in this game. Dashed rings show you which receivers are open. Pause whenever you need a moment.
Saving: Your wins, losses and ties, and your best score for each game length, are saved on this device, along with the level and game length you picked. A game in progress is not saved, so finish it or leave it before you close the game.
